Lo studente diviene protagonista attivo e l'obiettivo si sposta dall'insegnare le regole grammaticali a imparare a comunicare nel miglior modo. La grammatica allora non è punto di inizio, ma punto di arrivo.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;"&gt;Questa seconda scelta si aggancia:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;ul style="text-align: justify; stesso tempo complesso poichè pone interrogativi e quesiti che sicuramente avvengono nella comunicazione reale, ma che a livello di grammatica tradizionale vengono taciuti o "cassati".&lt;br /&gt;Ad esempio&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0); font-weight: bold;"&gt;Egli abita &lt;/span&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;generalmente abitare è considerato un verbo intransito monovalente,&lt;br /&gt;ma se la frase fosse&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0); font-weight: bold;"&gt;Egli abita a Berlino&lt;/span&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;siamo sicuri che sia ancora intransitivo?&lt;br /&gt;O ancora&lt;br /&gt;Il film dura.&lt;br /&gt;(durare = verbo intransitivo monovalente)&lt;br /&gt;ma se fosse&lt;br /&gt;Il film dura a lungo.&lt;br /&gt;E' intransitivo o transitivo?&lt;br /&gt;Come vedete le questioni sono abbastanza complesse e posso sicuramente mettere in crisi alcune certezze grammaticali che si hanno per esplorare territori non noti. Insieme con Vittorio Coletti, docente ordinario della stessa disciplina all' ateneo di Genova, è autore di «il Sabatini-Coletti. Dizionario della Lingua italiana», edito da Rizzoli-Larousse. L' idea del dizionario come libro di lettura gli piace. Così racconta quali sono i sentieri che lui e Coletti hanno voluto tracciare. «Anzitutto abbiamo legato il più possibile le parole alla struttura grammaticale della lingua. Abbiamo, inoltre, tenuto conto della distinzione tra "sistema grammaticale", come ci appare nelle frasi tipo, e uso comunicativo della lingua, detto anche testuale». Per fare questo sono stati utilizzati dei modelli teorici. Sabatini li spiega: «Non sarebbe stato possibile procedere empiricamente nella catalogazione dei 138 mila lemmi. Abbiamo scelto dei modelli teorici. Uno è quello che vede la struttura della frase impermeata sul verbo e sui rapporti che il verbo crea con gli altri elementi della frase stessa: è della grammatica valenziale di Lucien Tesnière. L' altro è un modello di tipologia dei testi, che metta ordine nei modi di comunicare negli usi coerenti della società attuale, scritti e orali». Nel nostro Paese esistono in commercio 178 diverse edizioni del dizionario della lingua italiana. Che cosa ha in più rispetto agli altri il testo Rizzoli-Larousse? Risponde Sabatini: «Il nostro, è dizionario e grammatica insieme. Ci siamo sforzati di superare l' isolamento lessicale delle parole e di vedere come funzionano nella sintassi». Qualche esempio. Il nome di riferimento è Martinet&lt;br /&gt;- Grammatica Generativa: per Chomsky esiste un sistema finito di regole in grado di generare tutte e solo le frasi corrette di una lingua, sistema di regole che prevede dei principi universali, che nascono nella mente del parlante;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"&gt;- Grammatica Valenziale:&lt;/span&gt; basata sull’opera del francese L. E’ utile in quanto consente di accostarsi in maniera scientifica alla struttura della frase e può ammettere percorsi interdisciplinari con l’italiano. Per contro può comportare una gestione grafica problematica nel caso di frasi complesse ed implica comunque basi di grammatica normativa.                                                                                                                                    Non esiste un vocabolario impostato sul modello valenziale (per l’italiano, invece, si ricorda il Sabatini Coletti); inoltre la manualistica è carente. Siamo in molti a ritenere, non da ora, che dello studio  cosiddetto “riflesso” della lingua non si possa e non si debba assolutamente  fare a meno nell’istruzione scolastica. E ciò per tre motivi di fondo,  che è bene riaffermare: non è possibile usare in modo consapevole  e appropriato la lingua, specialmente nello scrivere, senza conoscere  analiticamente il suo funzionamento; questa conoscenza aiuta certamente  anche nell’apprendere le altre lingue; inoltre, e non è un fatto  marginale, l’analisi della lingua è indagine sui nostri processi  mentali, sui nostri rapporti sociali e sulla nostra storia culturale. Cerchiamo dunque di tener vivo e sviluppare, in tutto il percorso dell’istruzione  scolastica, insieme con le fondamentali pratiche che alimentano e ampliano  le “abilità” linguistiche, lo studio riflesso della lingua. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;Ma tutto dipende da come si conduce quest&lt;/span&gt;o &lt;span style="font-size:130%;"&gt;studio..&lt;/span&gt;.."&lt;/span&gt;
